Last Friday night saw driver Jemma Coney notch up a double for both herself and trainer Clayton Harmey, with BOBSLED BOY and her own mare BRITNEY JANE NZ victorious in Races 2 and 4. Tom Ison also claimed a driving double in Race 1 with THE CHOREOGRAPHER for Geoffrey Harding and MOTU SAPPHIRE NZ ($18) for Mark Callaghan in Race 3 denying leading premiership driver Blake Hughes a win on his 18th birthday aboard favourite MISTER WOODPORT. Only one point now separates Ison & Hughes with one race meeting left on the season calendar at Newcastle this Friday night.
The remaining race spoils were shared between different trainers in each race. Shane Harmey's DYNAMIC DEEJAY ($17) was steered to victory by Jake Hughes in Race 5, trainer / driver Darren Grant was successful in Race 6 with MISS TROCADERO, trainer/driver Michael Dawson's WESTERN SHILO was too good for the others in the 2YO Pace and Gregory Frazer's LETTUCEFIREHARVEY ($15) upset the favourites in the last with Michael Formosa in the seat.
